Terms of Service

Gadfly is a voice tutor for technical-interview practice. It runs a spoken practice session where you think out loud and it asks the next question instead of handing you the answer, and it remembers what went wrong so it can bring it back. By creating an account or using the product you agree to these terms.

Who runs it

Gadfly is built and run by Dmytro Hryshchenko — an individual, not a company. These terms are an agreement between you and him. Questions, notices and requests go to [email protected].

What it costs

The first two sessions are free and need no card. After that, sessions come from a pack you buy once: the Practice Pack is £19.99 for 8 sessions to use within 30 days, and the Interview Pack is £35.99 for 16 sessions within 60 days. Prices include UK VAT — what the home page shows is what you pay. The thinking runs on a hosted model we pay for; a daily usage cap protects the service, and past it live sessions pause and the tutor says so rather than turning into a template. If a price changes, it changes for purchases made after the change and never for one already made.

Paying, and getting your money back

A pack is a single payment for a set number of sessions and the days to use them. It does not renew, we keep no card, and there is no subscription to cancel. A session is counted from the moment it starts, so one you abandon still counts. A pack ends when its sessions run out or its window closes, whichever comes first — and the only thing that stops then is starting new sessions. Your history, your plan and the export stay open. Buying another pack adds its sessions to whatever is left; each pack keeps its own window, and the one closing soonest is used first.

Fourteen days, no reason needed. If you are in the EU or the UK, the law gives you fourteen days to change your mind about digital content, and we do not ask you to waive it in order to start — the usual trick, and we are not using it. Write to [email protected] within fourteen days of the payment and we refund it in full, in the same way it was paid, within fourteen days of hearing from you. We may reduce the refund in proportion to what you have already used only when the sessions used are more than a token amount — in practice, a handful of sessions is a token amount and you get everything back. Outside the EU and the UK we apply the same rule anyway: it is easier to keep one promise than two.

If it did not work, the clock does not count. Days lost to the service being down, or to a fault on our side that stopped sessions, are added back to your pack when you tell us. If the product never worked for you at all, that is a full refund regardless of the fourteen days.

What is not a refund case: changing your mind about the interview, not having had time to practise, or the outcome of a real interview. Gadfly sells practice, not a result — see The practice, not a promise below.

Who takes the payment. Checkout is handled by Paddle, which acts as our merchant of record: Paddle is the seller on the receipt, charges you, and accounts for VAT. Your card details go to Paddle and never to us — we receive only a record that a purchase happened, the amount, and the email address it was made with. Ask us for a refund at [email protected] and we arrange it through Paddle; the promises above are ours and we keep them whichever way the money moves. The same rules, in plain order, are on the Refund Policy page.

Your account

Gadfly is for people aged 16 and over. You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your sign-in to yourself. Give a real email address — account confirmation and password resets depend on it. You can export everything you have (Download my data) or delete your account at any time from Settings → Your data; deleting your account removes your data, your sign-in and any purchase record, and cannot be undone.

Acceptable use

Gadfly is a practice tool, not an aid for use during a real interview or assessment — that is against these terms and against the point of the product. Do not use it to break the law, to attack or overload the service, to attempt to reach other people's data, or to submit code intended to harm the system that runs it. We may suspend or close an account that does.

The practice, not a promise

Gadfly helps you rehearse; it does not guarantee an interview result, and its scores and feedback are practice signals, not a verdict on your ability. It is early software and may change or have gaps.

We provide the service with reasonable care and skill. We are not liable for losses that were not a foreseeable result of our breach, or for lost profits or business use. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded — and nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Your work stays yours

The code you write and the words you say in a session belong to you. You give us permission to store them and to send them to the model that runs the tutor, for one purpose only: so the product works for you and can bring back what went wrong. We do not use your sessions to train models, and we do not publish or sell them. Gadfly itself — the software, the problems, the teaching material — stays ours.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms for legal or regulatory reasons, for security, or to reflect how the product changes. For material changes we will email the address on your account at least 30 days before they take effect, and you are free to export your data and close your account before then. Continuing to use Gadfly after that date means the updated terms apply. For anything here, write to [email protected]. How we handle your data is described in the Privacy Policy.
